Logging a Violation
Use Log Violation from the dashboard to start a new case.
What gets recorded
The unit, description, dates, and severity are always required. The CC&R / Rule Citation is optional at the field level, but at least one active rule must exist in your account before this form is reachable at all.
Why the rule text gets copied, not linked
When you cite a rule, its exact wording — along with the section number and title — is permanently snapshotted onto the violation at the moment you save it. If you edit or delete that rule in Governing Documents & Rules later, this violation keeps showing exactly what was cited originally. This protects the historical record: a rule edited after the fact can never silently change what an already-issued notice said.
Severity
Severity (Low / Medium / High / Critical) is for your own prioritization and does not affect the legal record. Use the Health & Safety checkbox separately for anything involving a safety risk — it is tracked independently of severity.
Curable violations
Most violations are curable — the homeowner has an opportunity to correct the issue. Leave this checked unless the violation type genuinely cannot be self-corrected.
