Importing Contacts with Units and Addresses
If your homeowner roster already exists as a spreadsheet — names, emails, unit numbers, and addresses together — you can bring it all in at once from Contacts → Import, instead of adding units and assigning contacts by hand.
What gets detected
When you upload a file, it's scanned for a few kinds of columns:
- Email and name — required, same as any contact import.
- Unit / lot number — recognized from common headers like "Unit", "Lot", "Parcel", or "APN".
- Address — recognized from headers like "Address", "Property Address", or "Situs Address".
If a unit or address column is found, you'll see a short prompt showing a few sample values and asking you to confirm before anything is imported. Nothing is added automatically — you always get the final say.
What happens to units during import
If you confirm the unit column, any unit label that doesn't already exist is created automatically, and the contact is linked to it. If a unit already has one contact and the import adds a second, no one's primary-contact status is changed by the import.
What happens to addresses during import
If you confirm the address column:
- A unit with no address on file gets the imported address filled in automatically.
- A unit that already has an address, and the import brings in the same address, does nothing — no duplicate work.
- A unit that already has an address, and the import brings in a different one, is never overwritten automatically. Instead it's queued for your review.
Reviewing address conflicts
If any conflicts come up, you'll see a note in your import summary and a link to Units → Address Conflicts. That page shows each conflicting unit side by side — the address currently on file and the one from the import — so you can choose Keep Existing or Use Imported for each one, or resolve all of them at once with the bulk buttons at the top.
