HOA Elections

Election Basics

The Election Basics section covers the name, the voting window, and two choices that affect how the election is run.

Ballot type

  • Secret ballot — Votes are recorded with no link back to the unit that cast them. Nobody, including you, can see how a particular unit voted.
  • Open ballot — Each vote is recorded against the unit that cast it

Secret is recommended and is what most associations use. This cannot be changed after launch.

Announce results

Decide now whether the outcome is emailed to members automatically when voting closes, or waits for you to send it. Choosing in advance means the decision is not influenced by the result.

Voting window

Voting opens and closes at the times you set. Ballots are emailed automatically when voting opens, so members receive a link that works immediately rather than one that tells them to come back later.
