Deleting a Unit
If a unit was added by mistake, you can remove it entirely from its menu.
When deletion is available
A unit can only be deleted when it is completely untouched:
- No contact has ever been assigned to it
- No dues charges have ever been generated for it
- No violations have ever been logged against it
- It has never received an election ballot, even in a past, closed election
If any of that exists, the unit is a permanent record — the same principle that already applies to a launched election, which also cannot be deleted once ballots go out.
Use Mark Inactive instead
For any unit with real history, use Mark Inactive from the same menu. This removes it from future elections and quorum counts while keeping everything already on record — contacts, dues, violations, and past ballots — intact.
Tip: If you try to delete a unit and it is blocked, the error message tells you exactly what history is attached — contacts, dues, violations, or ballots — so you know why Mark Inactive is the right move instead.
