What Is a Unit?
A unit is one lot, home, or address in your association — whatever your governing documents treat as a single member with a single vote.
Units are the foundation of everything else in HOA Tools. Elections send one ballot per unit, quorum is counted in units, and results are reported by unit. Defining them accurately is worth doing carefully once, because every election afterward depends on it.
Unit labels
Each unit needs a label that owners will recognize — "Lot 42", "Unit 3B", "117 Oak Street". Labels must be unique within your association, and they appear on ballots, so use the naming your members already use.
Active and inactive
Units can be marked inactive when they are no longer part of the association. Inactive units are excluded from elections and quorum counts but are kept as a record.
